Written by a psychologist, this sweet book tells the tale of Blossom, a sunflower who is self-critical of her height, and Bud, a not-quite-blooming plant who is self-critical of his slow growth. They are teased and bullied by the other flowers in the shop for their physical qualities, but both end up being important parts of a special bouquet. I liked how the font, size, and color of the words reflected their meaning, and I especially appreciate the author's note with excellent information about body image and how to help children develop a healthy sense of self.
