Everything Is Beautiful by Eleanor Ray
4.0

*4.5 stars*

Long story short - I adored this book. The narrative was well-paced and believable. The characters were distinctive and their development was genuine. Whilst mostly contemporary fiction, this book also had an interesting mystery/suspense element woven through the story. I was captured by the writing and truly didn’t want to put it down.

The main character, Amy, was a treasure: refreshingly honest and self-assured. True to its reviews, this book, including Amy, reminded me of Eleanor Oliphant. It was charming, sweet, heart-wrenching and unique.

The connection between each “item” Amy keeps and her relationship with Tim was helpful to understanding why Amy keeps specific items. Whilst her retention of items is certainly obsessive, I think her ability to see beauty in something as simple and unobtrusive as an ashtray is wonderful. The main takeaway (obviously) is that everything can have a life if you let it and everything is beautiful.

When to Read - If you loved Eleanor Oliphant.
