Holy Hot Mess: Finding God in the Details of this Weird and Wonderful Life by Mary Katherine Backstrom

funny hopeful inspiring lighthearted reflective fast-paced

4.25

Mary Katherine is so… relatable. She’s honest about the messes in her life, and takes the time to laugh heartily at herself. This is a great book to read if you’re feeling like the rest of the world has it all together (spoiler alert:they don’t).

The book reads more like a collection of stories without necessarily being connected together, but that’s not entirely a bad thing. It’s fun to pick up a chapter for a chuckle, kind of like getting a funny message from a friend. It’s not all laughs, and the seriousness of some of Mary Katherine’s story can be heartbreaking at times, but somehow still encouraging. I really enjoyed this book and I so appreciate her heartfelt telling of her story. It really felt like chatting with a friend over coffee and Mary Katherine is definitely a friend I’d like to have.
