“All his concerns and worries washed away as he watched her”

An Arrow to the Heart is a soothing cosy romantasy debut.
The writing is very dynamic, but doesn't forget to set up an ambiance. I loved Wyrmwind and its inhabitants, and honestly I would love to spend some time in this village where adventure awaits, but not for too long, and the Alehouse is always available for a drink. Not to mention all the creatures Sylvie keeps in her property (not always “legally”). Both Sylvie and Ardal are such great characters. Sylvie, the healer for all living beings, is an inspiration: independant, ear pointed, empowered, not the usual 20YO characters, and with curves. I adored how she is both discrete and empowered, grumpy and adorable. She knows what she wants, she his capable of defending herself, and knows how to keep a (some) secret(s). Ardal the 35+YO human traveler isn’t outdone. He’s what I would love to see more in romance characters. As sexy as Sylvie, protector but withdrawn, acting as a security net but letting his partner act (after all, she didn’t wait for him to defend herself earlier in her life). Even if remaining inactive while he’s healing is complicated for him, he’s her first cheerleader nevertheless, and I have to admit these characters are my favourite ones.
I truly hope a sequel to an arrow to the Heart will soon exist (as much as a prequel about the bartenders…).

Thank you so much KR Bacher for trusting me with the ARC of her delightful debuts. My opinions are my own.
