Boy Toy by Sarina Bowen, Tanya Eby
4.0

3.75 stars. This was a pretty good book. Boy Toy is Sadie and Liam's book. Sadie is the third friend to find love in this series. She is a recently divorced mom to two year old twins. Her breakup was a hard one, leaving her with poor self-esteem after he ex cheated on her with their much younger nanny. Sadie meets Liam when he is her daughters' preschool teacher. She is shocked to realize that this very nice, handsome guy is someone she used to babysit. When Sadie was twenty, she babysat fourteen year old Liam and his younger siblings. Now that they have met as adults, they both are attracted to each other. Liam has always had feelings for Sadie and is interested in pursuing a relationship with her. But Sadie is reluctant because of their age difference and history. Still, as they become friends and spend more time together, Liam sneaks under her defenses and they fall for each other.

Overall, this was a pretty cute book. I liked Boy Toy. It was a light, funny, easy read. The story was fun and interesting. There are some funny moments, some sexy ones and some emotional ones. I appreciated the awkwardness Sadie felt dating someone she once babysat. Still, Liam was obviously mature and as they were both adults, I found her reluctance went on a little too long. I was annoyed by Sadie at times because of her treatment of Liam. Still, I did like them together. And I loved Liam. He was a doll. He adored Sadie and was so cute with her kids. He had been crushing on Sadie ever since he was fourteen and didn't hesitate to pursue her when he got the chance as an adult. I didn't really feel the age or maturity difference between them. I also felt like the kids were written well and true to their age, which I always look for in books with kids.

One thing I should mention... I didn't love something that was revealed in the epilogue.
Spoiler There is a 9 month separation between the last page and the epilogue as Liam worked abroad. He had a chance to change his work plans, so that he didn't have to leave Sadie, but he didn't. That disappointed me a bit and dropped my rating from 4 stars to 3.75 stars. I felt like it stopped the momentum and seriousness of the couple's relationship. The epilogue picks up on the day he returns. They do seem happy, but separations near the end of a book are a pet peeve of mine.

Overall, this is a fun, cute read. I enjoyed this installment of the series and I hope there is more to come from Ms. Eby and Ms. Bowen!
