No Dream Is Too High: Life Lessons from a Man Who Walked on the Moon by Buzz Aldrin

3.0

In spite of our technological advances in the past five decades, the moon landing is still the greatest scientific achievements in history. If anyone has the right to pass on some life lessons to the rest of us, it's former astronaut Buzz Aldrin. In this slim book, Mr. Aldrin does just that and we are all the richer for it.

Becoming the second man in history to set foot on the moon took a lot of dedication, and living up to that historic achievement even more so. Mr. Aldrin shares with readers the life lessons that have guided his life and career with such advice as "Keep your mind open to possibilities" and "practice respect for all people." Sure some of these things could have been found in a fortune cookie, but the stories Mr. Aldrin has to tell about his upbringing, life, and the Apollo 11 mission bring new meaning to these tag lines.

Many of Mr. Aldrin's tales are fascinating to anyone who is not too familiar with the Apollo program. However, the longer Mr. Aldrin goes on in his chapters, the further away he moves from his main point. The shorter chapters are far more to the point while longer chapters are a little meandering. Still, there are some good stories in each chapter and plenty of Mr. Aldrin's famous with and charm. Just know that some of the chapters will take a while to circle back to the point.

On the whole, this is a good graduation gift for students interested in science & space and I would recommend it to those readers as well as people interested in some good tales from a man who walked on the moon.
