Don’t believe the back cover - it’s not a “feminist LOTR” but rather in the area of Game of Thrones. Political intrigue, nuance to the characters, and of course lots of dragons :) started off a tad slow - still enjoyable but just a bit slow as this huge, well-done world building got its foundations, but pretty soon the plot twists started and I was hooked. And what world building! It so nice to read a fantasy book that takes the opportunity to really imagine another world - like of QUEENdoms… but also familiar enough to reflect on our own world.
So many characters but with very distinct if interconnected journeys, and  I was not disappointed when shifting view which doesn’t always happen for me. Just well crafted fantasy! Some of her descriptions stood out enough read them twice in the moment because the sentence just felt nicely done. The dialogue could occasionally be awkward, but I already loved the characters so much it was easy to breeze over. One of the characters I hated most of the book and somehow now I think his arc is one of the ones that will stay with me the most.
