The Far Kingdoms by Allan Cole, Chris Bunch

4.0

A mythic tale, it calls itself, and it is, and delightful and full. The compleat fantasy adventure tale (albeit a 90s one, acceptable to me as a feminist). A naive young merchant’s son hooks up with a mysterious stranger and they make several voyages in search of the fabled far kingdoms. There are some very interesting characters, and I liked the culture of Amalric’s native land. It’ll be interesting to see how the sequels mesh with this book.
