I’m at odds with myself about this book. On one hand, I absolutely adore these characters.
Our MMC & FMC are in their mid-late thirties. I live for this. I’ve always wanted a fantasy romance book with older protagonists.

However, there were some parts of the book that I had issues with. Particularly the plot. It’s simple enough. I love a good murder mystery and a quirky cast. But there’s something about it just seems… boring? Almost? Sometimes?

I didn’t feel a lot of tension or urgency in the plot. Half the book was mostly our 2 love interests pining over each other, which I found cute and sweet most of the time but it did get almost a bit too much by the end.

Slow burn between two very conflicted, socially awkward adults is cute and I do love that. But I feel like this book dragged a bit.

I will be continuing with the series. I hope it picks up from there!
