Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption
by Laura Hillenbrand
An engaging and unbelievable story from beginning to end. I was not expecting a description of such a "feral" childhood, full of exploits and pranks. Louie's racing career was inspiring, especially as I listened while running, and the description of the state of the WW2 Air Force was shocking in how many people died, especially not during combat. The account of their 47 days adrift on the raft was horrifying, only to be followed up with the even more harrowing account of his 2.5+ years in Japanese POW camps.
