HIGHLY recommend

As a typical American who took typical history, I learned absolutely nothing about the German resistance in WWII. A bit about the French resistance, but this was all new territory for me. The most interesting part was the women resistance fighters who did so much in the background and periphery as the women were often ignored.

I had assumed, wrongly, that all Germans were complicit in the Holocaust, WWII,  and the Third Reich. This novel explains that every day Germans from all walks of life were against Hitler and actively tried to kill him numerous times to end the war. These people were everyone from officers in the German military to university students for varied and diverse reasons.

This was a beautifully written historical fiction with strong characters and an incredible storyline!
