City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare
3.0

It took me nearly a year to complete this book. I just stopped, picked back up when I could and would continue on the journey. It was a couple of things that caused this. For one, I was not ready for this exciting and thrilling journey full of werewolves, vampires, faeries, and shadow hunters to end. I didn't want to let go of Clary and Jace's love but it was also a struggle at the same time. It was a struggle to completely and entirely have what I've wanted to have since the beginning of the series. It was completion of the want/need/yearning I had for these characters since day one and it was maybe a little too... "storybook" of an ending for my taste. I wish it could have ended on a cliffhanger note in a way and yet, it didn't. Even when things were completely taken from characters, I was still not satisfied. This was not her best but it was slightly enjoyable that I managed to stretch it out for so long. I don't feel at peace with these characters but I guess I'll live it all again if and when the television show airs.
