The Day We Met by Rowan Coleman

4.0

I was given this ARC as a Goodreads Giveaways (Spoilers will follow)...

I have heard that this book was sort of a Still Alice meets Me Before You. Both very different books that I adored, so I wasn't sure what to expect.

Claire has advanced early onset Alzheimers. Her mother, Ruth, is trying to help take care of her, as she did Claire's father before her. Her older daughter Caitlin is a college student with problems of her own, who is struggling to help her mother as well. Her younger daughter is Esther. She is also married to Greg, whom she can rarely remember.

I have to be honest, at first, while I loved the story line of Claire, Ruth and Caitlin, I was broken-hearted by Greg's story line. Even more so, I was completely dismayed by the Ryan story line. I felt it was out of left field and was going to be very disappointed if, at the end of the book, it had been about how she and Ryan had met. Imagine my surprise? happiness? when it turned out that Greg and Ryan were one in the same.
