Sisters of the Lost Nation
by Nick Medina
It took me a bit to get into this book, but it eventually got me and lured me in. I felt such a strong connection to Anna and the feeling of struggling to keep a relationship with someone who pushes you away. I like that this book centers around MMIW and depicts it as the tragedy and very real issue that it is. My only qualm was that I didn’t like the jumping around in the timeline - it was really hard for me to conceptualize where I was in the story and I honestly think the linear timeline would have worked well in this story.
A very solid 4/5 stars with compelling writing and brilliant use of indigenous folklore
