I have absolutely zero idea what I just read. It seemed like it went back & forth between time periods & characters in a mostly incoherent manner, until the end. Why cake is mentioned in so much abundance is beyond me. I really don't care about different types of cake & random people who basically contribute nothing to the story at all except for fillers. That's what a whole lot of this book was. It was poorly executed in every way.
