“The Burning Land” is the fifth novel in “The Last Kingdom Series” by Bernard Cornwell. It continues to follow, through a first-person perspective, the adventures of Uthred of Bebbanburg.

“The Last Kingdom” is one of my favorite series ever. Bernard Cornwell manages to make each novel more interesting and engaging than the one before. As works of historical fiction, the novels in the series (at least the ones I’ve read so far), intend to explore a specific historical period. However, what really impacts me, as a reader, is how each novel allows me to connect with the characters, and to see how each character grows along the series.

So far, I’ve rated all the novels in the series between 4 and 5 stars. “The Burning Land” was no different, it was 5 stars for me. I think this was the novel I’ve read the fasted. I just started it and could not put it down until the very end, and the next day, I sarted the next novel in the series… So excited to see what is happening next in the story!
