Sistersong by Lucy Holland

Did not finish book. Stopped at 59%.
Sistersong started off really strong for me because I have an interest in post-Roman Britain so this book should have been for me but sadly it was not.  What made me DNF this book was I just wasn't being held by the story. There wasn't enough tension or intrigue to make me want to keep reading. Though the book is told from the view point of three different siblings, the author was not skilled enough to differentiate them from one another and I felt like I was reading from the same POV the whole time. Also, the three siblings felt very young for their age and the time period. All three felt very immature and for being royal children none were married off or promised to another royal family which was odd.

I've noticed a trend recently in historical fiction, Sistersong included, where the book ends just as the action is really taking off. Why this is a trend I don't know and I hate it as the book ends just as it's getting good.
