Girl in a Band by Kim Gordon

4.0

more like 3.5 stars, but i'm feeling generous. there were just a lot of things about this book that i wasn't super into. for example, the way she keeps describing being in a band with men as getting this really special opportunity to be a part of the ~*magical*~ musical bond that already exists between two men who are playing music by being a girl jumping into the middle of it just felt REALLY WEIRD to me - maybe the way she talks about women/'girls' in general is a generation gap thing. also, the way some of the Thurston cheating stuff is described/blame placed on the 'other woman' is hard to read because i'm sure it's still super raw to her that thurston turned out to be a d-bag and she alternates blaming him with eviscerating the 'other woman' and sort of positing that it's this woman's fault that Thurston did it. there were also some really cool parts, so it was worth a read, but i probably won't ever think about this book again.
