This is book 5 in the Perfectly Imperfect series and I really enjoyed it. Neva Altaj never misses, and she definitely killed this one.

Milene is the sister of one of the Chicago capos and Bianca, who we met in book 2. She has run away from Chicago and the Cosa Nostra life and settled in New York to as a nurse. She knows she isn’t allowed to be in New York, because of an agreement between Chicago and New York dons, but she thought if she lay low, they won’t find her.

Salvatore is the don of the New York Cosa Nostra and he first lays his eyes on Milene in the parking lot of the hospital she works at. They meet and from that day on; he becomes obsessed with her. They even go on a date. However, when that date goes sideways, Salvatore calls the Chicago family about Milene, and instead of killing her, he takes her as his wife.

I really enjoyed the tension between Milene and Salvatore. Salvatore is the definition of a possessive and overprotective man for Milene. Though she was forced to marry Salvatore, she didn’t bend to his will. She continued to fight him, and herself, until she gave in to what she wanted. I also loved the banter between them, especially when it pertained to Milene’s cat. It sort of reminded me of the banter between Nina and Roma. It was hilarious. I loved seeing their love for each other developed and how crazy they became for each other. Salvatore definitely fell first!

I was sent an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
