Who Thought This Was a Good Idea?: And Other Questions You Should Have Answers to When You Work in the White House by Alyssa Mastromonaco

lighthearted reflective medium-paced

2.5

I picked this up because I'm currently re-watching The West Wing and I'm interested in stories from behind-the-scenes at the White House. I'd read that the title and blurb were a little misleading so luckily I was prepared for it to be less about the White House than I'd hoped. So while it's certainly not focused on Mastromonaco's work for Obama, I found there were enough interesting stories about that to make it worth the read. Each chapter is based around an attribute like resilience or humility and she uses stories from her career to illustrate why they're important. There were some funny stories but overall I felt like the structure meant it didn't quite hang together.
