Hollow Hellion by Jodie King
4.0
dark medium-paced

This book is one big trigger warning, and I shopped that list! It is a Horror Romance so if you don't want that, don't read this book. Let's just say that there are no shades of gray here; everyone is morally black.

Out MMC, Hellion/Hell, is a lot. He is a daredevil/hitman for a secret society. Noir has escaped a terrifying situation and is traveling with Eli. They end up at a horror carnival with a nefarious side hustle. The set up is intriguing. I honestly haven't read anything like it. There are secrets held and revealed, twists, surprises, moments where the reader knows things the characters don't...basically, everything I want in a book.

So, that's the plot. The rest is pure smut. And some seriously spicy, spicy, trashy, surprising smut. And just when you think Noir and Hell have a purely deranged relationship, he kisses the top of her head; he fixes a handmade doll; he lowers himself to capture her eyes. All the little things that make the MMC our hero. Also, Hell punishes Noir by eating at her altar. Please, punish me!

There is a side character, M, who I feel was met, dropped, and then picked back up at the end. I wish there had been more follow through. Also, the editing of this book was atrocious - apostrophes in plurals, no apostrophes in possessives, misuse of homophones, and just general poor editing. I don't usually comment on this, but it distracted me throughout the book. This review rating is purely for story content. The book was still a lot of fun to read.

P.S. There's an HEA!!
