Lost and Lassoed by Lyla Sage

5.0

Teddy + Gus!!

I've been waiting for this book since Teddy and Gus's antagonistic relationship was introduced in book 1 and I am so happy to say that this book didn't disappoint!

On the surface Lost and Lassoed is a loathe to love romance about two characters who are seemingly opposites but at their core far more alike than either cares to notice or admit. Gus and Teddy are both passionate, fiery, fierce, and stewards over their people. They are the epitome of what happens when two people, who care for everyone around them, find a safe place to land and someone who is willing to see their burden and help relieve it in a way only those meant to be together can. I loved their love. it was a passionate fall, a steamy ride, and had me in tears more than once as they uplifted and supported one another.

Deeper than that though, Lost and Lassoed has a kick drum heartbeat that is dedicated to those good fathers out there and their relationships with their children. Amos, Hank, and Gus are all amazing fathers in their own way and with their own stories to tell. I believe Lyla did an fantastic job of showcasing how important children are to parents no matter what age or stage of life their children are in. One the other side of that coin she also did a phenomenal job of emphasizing the relationships children have with their parents, the responsibilities felt, the expectations they carry, and the wounds we carry when we are faced with a future they will inevitably not be in..

In the end this book is truly filled with so much LOVE. The love of a parent and a child, the love of two people who never saw it coming, the unrestrained love of a young girl who sees the world and people in a way only a child can, the love you feel joining a family, love between best friends, love for what you do, and the love you have in your heart for a place that feels like home, a place you can't imagine building a life without. Lost and Lassoed wove its way into my heart in a way very different from Done and Dusted and Swift and Saddled, but no less important.

I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention Lyla's authors note section dedicated to her own dad. I love Lyla's words, I love the little bits of her heart and her life that she shares with us readers, and I was in a tear stained puddle as I read about the love she carries for her dad and how fatherhood became the heartbeat and direction of this novel. When this book is in your hands, don't skip this section, its beautiful!

Okay, now I'm ready for Dusty and Cam to destroy my heart in the next book- Wild and Wrangled!
