I can't believe how much I love this book. I borrowed the audiobook and when I first started, I had to force myself to listen. I wasn't sure where the plot was heading but slowly Yu's writing gripped me. At first meditative then all at once, funny, Yu is able to shed light on the Asian-American/Asian-immigrant story with humor and seriousness. I had to pause and reflect about my relationship with my identity as an Asian woman and observe how I saw my relationship with those around me.

I was ready to give this 3 stars but the moment I was 25% into the book, I knew that I was going to give it 5 stars in the end. His unique writing style made it intriguing and yet it became a symbol for the the Asian-immigrant pov.
