H is for Hawk by Helen Macdonald

I have had this book in my pile for some time, and have finally gotten around to it. It is excellent. This is, however, a very literary book--possibly not to everyone's taste. I was much surprised by the deep entanglement with Macdonald's story and that of T.H. White, about whom I knew little before reading this book. The author is deeply introspective and sees symbolic and metaphoric significance in everything around her. I was quite fascinated. And I now intend to go back and re-read White's work on King Arthur, which I have not read in decades.
