Savage Beginnings by J.L. Beck, C. Hallman

as a person who loves the chase more than the relationship this book satisfied that. it was very interesting in the sense that she kind of reworked the basic mafia kidnapping romance and made it into her own thing. i really enjoyed this book and i thought that is was a nice opening to the series. i don't plan on reading the full series and i only plan on reading one more book from this series but I really liked this one.

the heroine annoyed me in the sense that she was kind of a doormat in this story and she tried to be mad at him but it would always end when he would say some sexual remark. this really irritated me and i don't know why because i've read mafia books where most heroines are exactly the same as her but i wasn't in the mood for that kind of thing.

the hero was a basic mafia man in the sense that he didn't want to love heroine because he wanted to keep her safe and act out revenge plots against her father. i didn't completely hate him. he wasn't really memorable to me. i hated the way he treated his staff and that was just a turn-off from me. like people in the mafia cant say thank you?? and it didn't help that while the heroine knew it was wrong she didn't do shit about it. ugh

overall this book was an okay read. it was very quick which i'm glad for because i would not have been able to stand this book if it went on for longer. if you want to read something that doesn't require you to pay a lot of attention to dive into this books because you will literally forget the plot an hour after reading it.

2.5 stars (rounded up to 3 because i'm nice)
