The Afterlife of the Party by Marlene Perez
4.0
When Tansy's best friend gets seduced by a vampire, what else is she going to do except go after her. With the recently single Vaughn, Tansy sets off on an adventure against vampires to get her best friend. Did I forget to mention, Tansy is a witch.
I have gotten tired over the years of the overused trope of vampire lovers. This was the complete opposite of that and I was very grateful. It was a refreshing retake on vampires and portrays them as the villians.
When I opened up the book, I didn't expect anything that was going to happen. I had trouble predicting what was going to happen next with the characters which was appreciated at times. In the beginning, I did have trouble connecting to Tansy but as I read further, it became easier to connect and understand her.
But overall, despite my misgivings, there were great things that happen. The romance was fantastic, the plot twists were not something I saw coming and the villains just kept coming. This was a spectacular read and I can't wait for the sequel come out.
Thank you to Netgalley and Entangled Teen for allowing me the chance to read and review this wonderful book.
