The book was an enjoyable read on its own but the plot was an utter failure. Not only did it not carry forward the plot points and themes introduced in its prequel 'King of Scars', one prominent character of the book was overwhelmed throughout. It undermined and dampened their entire character development to the point of them being critically different to their character in the former book. Lots of potential wasted; like, literally, so entirely, too much loss of potential for what could have been a glorious book. The ending was ambiguous for a book that is supposed to be a finale for the Grishaverse.
