Spin of Fate by A.A. Vora
Did not finish book. Stopped at 29%.
DNF’d @ 30%.
I was actually really enjoying the beginning. The world-building was excellent. I enjoyed the idea of people ascending to more heavenly realms (via Toranic Law) etc and the various issues with the realm Aina came from.
Speaking of Aina, her POV presented a solid start and I found her story to be interesting and I wanted to know more and see where her journey led.
Annnnd then we abruptly switched point of views to Aranel. This completely killed the momentum I had going for Aina and everything just went downhill. It became a chore to read without getting bored, I lost interest in all the characters including Aina since I didn’t really get that same feeling I got in the beginning again. It became a slog to read and I just couldn’t do it anymore.
I really think this should have been only in Aina’s point of view the entire time as the switch took away from her development while simultaneously introducing other characters that desperately needed character work as well.
I am sad because this world was so fascinating and the story itself had so much potential but I am a character-driven reader so this was a miss for me.
