Holy shit. I don't have words to describe this book. Using any positive descriptors feels terrible because the content of this book is so heavy and dark and disturbing. And yet, Suzanne Collins wrote this story masterfully. It was painful and emotional and left me feeling hollowed out by the end.
The characters in this book were so incredibly well fleshed out and the parallels to the original trilogy was so well done. And the overarching messages related to propaganda used to squash feelings of discontent was so intense it hurt.
Everything about this was heartwrenching but I truly feel it was so well written and the messaging was so clear. I LOVE Suzanne Collins so much. Also just have to say I am absolutely obsessed with Maysilee Donner.
