The Villager by Shirley Jackson

shirley jackson's short stories - 5/25
shirley jackson really loves writing about somebody assuming somebody else's identity. this little story is just sad, honestly. you have your middle aged woman, having had the dream to become a dancer and then 'just' ending up a stenographer, which, don't get me wrong, is a great job, but she herself is still pining after that dream, so it's just sad that she's in a position now that is just...less than what she had imagined.
anyway, that was another one, where i felt like i was just got put into a story and taken out again; i have no idea what exactly is going to come from hilda's life.
