I liked this narrative a lot! I think this is marketed as a thriller, and I think that does it a bit of disservice. This is maybe more of a literary fiction with a true crime storyline. If you’re familiar with the movie Zodiac (2007) the pacing of this is about the same. There is a story to be told but we’re going to take our sweet ‘ol time to get there. When you go in expecting a thriller style pace, it’s hard to clock back into a meandering literary pace.
This was my first Liz Moore novel, and I did enjoy her writing style. Things were concise and explained adequately but I still feel like we were missing some resolution to points that were introduced.
I did love the character exploration of this! There are A LOT of players here and while some I didn’t feel were necessary I was really back on forth on what the “crime” or perpetrator was/is.
Overall I do think this is worth it to read! I enjoyed this and I feel like this could make an interesting limited series too!
