The Gilded Cage by Camilla Läckberg

1.5

This is one of my mom's fave book but MY LORD this pissed me off. And, worst of it all, I listened to the audiobook (which, if I hadn't, I probably would have DNF'd it).

I can honestly say that I hated everything except the part where she kills her ex boyfriend, her best friend and when she frames her husband in the end. That's it. Everything else was dumb and I hated reading it.

The women in this book pissed me off, especially Faye: the dumbest human on fictional earth. We're told that she was the one that really made her husbands' business take off, because she's so intelligent. YET, she agreed to not be named when asked who made the business (because she trusts Jack, ok). She does everything he wants, and when he treats her like sh**, she thinks it's her fault, and when they're divorced, she still sleeps with him because revenge. No, sweetie, can we not, I'm 21 and I know better. There's so much that I hated that I could go on for days.

Then, to top it off, the cringe sex scenes. Let me remind you, I listened to this on audiobook. Terrible idea. I wanted to smash something. So bad, so gross, I cannot. Also, the ending was so predictable it hurt, except for the mom being there, which I liked.

However, I did like the best friend and their friendship. The best friend was so much smarter and interesting to read about, and Faye should have just listened to her advice.

Overall, predictable, bad, and just no.
