Happy Hour by Marlowe Granados

adventurous reflective medium-paced

4.25

I've been navigating grief for the past few months since the end of July, and this summer has felt like winter to me. I know I have been sweating and the sun has been shining, but my memories of July and August are covered in darkness. I had wanted to read Happy Hour as a way to connect to that summer feeling. Its languid prose reminds me of those summer days when it's so hot you're too lethargic to do anything but sit there and reflect. There were moments as I was reading this where I couldn't feel further from Isa, and there were others where I was convinced we were kin. Not in action, but in expression and in feeling.
