You Do You: Proud to Be Fabulous by Nikki Levy, Tan France

3.0

I got this as one of my membership freebies, when I still had an active Audible membership.

This… was what it said it was. (If you dug far enough to find out what it said it was.) An LGBTQ storytelling collection. The stories were good, but… it didn't feel cohesive to me. It felt to me like the people behind it made sure they ticked as many boxes as they could in terms of gender and sexuality, and tried to get some "names" involved, and… that was mostly what they were aiming for.

My verdict: Good, as far as it goes. This is one of those Audible originals that feels like it should have been released as a podcast episode instead of sold. (And one I'm glad I got it as one of my membership freebies instead of using money or a credit for it directly.)

I'm sort of glad I listened to it, but not glad enough that I'd recommend it to anybody. And even though I just finished it, there are only one or two of the stories that I remember anything about. Some of that may have been my paying attention, but some of it is definitely in the selection of storytellers and stories.

2.5 stars (rounded up, since Goodreads doesn't use half-stars)
