At the time I’m reading this I personally do not emotionally connect to this novel. It is well written and at times is good at imagery, but perhaps it’s because I’m neurotypical, privileged, and young that I personally can’t tap in to the emotions presented here. Also as a woman I think my exploration of dark emotions manifests in different ways. It’s a good book, but I will say having more context of the author’s life story and giving more explicit explanations of some plots that happen in the story would have been very helpful for the way I understood the book. (The way the author goes about some plot lines is very very very implicit that I could not have understood by reading between the lines.) Thus, I hope to revisit this again but perhaps not for another decade or so.
