My expectations for this one were high. I think the moment I realized this wouldn't be a 5-star was when one of the main crimes the story revolves around was revealed. It just changed the overall picture I had of this book in my head into something I was honestly not very interested in. You know when you imagine you're gonna get X type of vibes, but then you get Y? It was like that... Kala's story was so sad and she deserved so much better... my favourite aspect of the whole thing was definitely the exploration of coming-of-age, which was beautifully done and I would re-read Colin Walsh just for that. But the ending of this one felt rushed and didn't leave a big impact on me, it was also a bit predictable. I'm still glad I read it though.
