Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

5.0

What a perfectly crafted duology!

I have given up on trying to read Leigh Bardugo’s books slowly. I have been completely sucked into The Grishaverse and I’ll be sad to leave it, but I’ll enjoy the ride!

This sequel to Six of Crows is masterfully done. Our anti-heroes have returned to finish what they started in Fjerda and will make a stand in Ketterdam. You can expect a deeper dive into the characters and pretty thorough world-building experience.

I’ve come to think of the Crows as my friends and found myself cheering, laughing, raging, and crying on their behalf. I love a good heist story, and Bardugo left me more than satisfied. I loved that our beloved author included a quite the crossover from The Shadow and Bone trilogy into this story, it felt like a reunion of sorts.

I hope at some point that LB decides to revisit these characters in the future. I’d be more than happy to visit The Barrel again, and see what the future holds for The Crows.
