“A little danger adds spice to life.”

I had pretty high expectations for this book, and I have to say that I found myself to be pretty bored and annoyed throughout this novel.

I loved how fast the plot moved, and the world of Sounis, Eddis, and Attolia was a very creative one. I did end up skipping through all the "elaborate stories of the gods" chapters - I just wasn't there for it. I couldn't really find a conflict anywhere in the novel - but the heist was really exciting, and I was definitely there for that twist at the ending.

The writing didn't blow me out of the park, but I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series (I've heard they get a lot better). I'm actually a good percentage into book 2, and I'm already rooting for the characters and this story waaaaay more.

This book to me felt like a prequel that shouldn't have existed outside the format of a novella - the territory all prequels should be limited to (fight me).

Have a wonderful evening.
