The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum

5/5 Stars!
I have loved this story since I was a very young girl. I dressed up as Dorothy for World Book Day one year in first school. Which seemed to be a popular choice because I think most girls in my year did and brought a stuffed Toto. Which I didn't. I also love the film so much as I love Judy Garland as Dorothy. I don't think I can imagine anyone else being Dorothy. I once saw The Wizard of Oz on stage as well with my parents when I was young and thought it was the most amazing thing ever. I really didn't understand at the time why she wore Silver shoes instead of Red and I think my mum told me that the red shoes were copyrighted? I think that's true! I was so confused because in the book the shoes are silver. But MGM said they wanted red because it was going to be in technicolor and it would look a lot better and it would be more exciting.

Most importantly this book has a very good message to young children that you don't have to have magical powers to be great and talented. You don't need Oz to make you brave, clever or be lovable. And also you don't need Oz to send you back to Kansas. You can do it all on your own its just inside of you to do so!
