I *listened* to this novel in translation, and it is one of only a few Japanese novels I have read, so I am sure this affects my perception. However, the style just wasn’t my taste. I was surprised by the focus on the café’s proprietors, but this did work - despite all the names beginning with K! I appreciate the heart-warming message, but I just couldn’t feel its effects. Something was missing for me.
