Broken Whispers
by Neva Altaj
I've received an ARC by Neva Altaj herself and I am so glad I did because this series has quickly become one of my favorites this year. Broken Whispers is the second book in the Perfectly Imperfect series and it tells us the story of Mikhail and Bianca. I honestly didn't expect to get this attached to these two characters and I want more of them.
Mikhail is a single dad and that was the fact that I didn't know when going into this book. I was so surprised and so thankful because we got to see him turn into a dad mode and it was freaking amazing. He was one of the characters that I was actually a bit worried I wouldn't like reading about but Neva Altaj's writing makes it pretty much impossible not to like each and every character.
Bianca has just turned 21 and is younger than Mikhail so we do get a bit of an age-gap trope. But their age difference can't really be felt that much while you're reading. So that means that even if age gaps usually bother you, you should be able to get through this one easily. Bianca is also mute and her way of communicating with Mikhail without using sign language was just so cute.
The thing that I actually liked the most in this book was the mention of Sergei. He would pop in here and there and we got to see a bit of an inside of his relationship with Mikhail. His pop-ups in the story always made me smile and I reserved a special color for marking just his parts. I honestly can't wait to read about him in the next book.
Overall, this book series is freaking amazing and you need to go read it right now. This book has mafia, possessive, and very protective MMC as well as a fierce FMC and a single dad trope. It does mention some sensitive topics that might be triggering to some people so please read the TWs before reading.
