Playing Nice by JP Delaney

Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Now the 4th book I’ve read of Delaney’s and he is skilled at changing his writing style to fit the suspense needed to grip you. The storytelling for this book reminded me of Gone Girl with the switch between main character POV and case documents to unveil what is going on.

Although, I found the characters very annoying for the first half which made it harder to be gripped the whole way through. But, once they officially got charged (not a spoiler), the book massively picked up and I couldn’t put it down. It just took a while to get there.

It was fast paced due to its short chapters with lots of plot twists but I wouldn’t recommend it. He has other better written thrillers.
