Becoming: Adapted for Younger Readers by Michelle Obama

5.0

Whilst I don’t read non-fiction a lot, I really enjoyed this amazing memoir following Michelle Obama from her childhood, through her various jobs to how she become the First Lady of the United States. I really enjoyed how although her role as FLOTUS was heavily shaped by Barack, she she still focused on the things she achieved and was proud of, as opposed to just writing a biography about Barack and his successes. Michelle discussed all things about her family, her love story with Barack, her management being a full time worker, full time mum and with Barack being away a lot, her scepticism towards politics as first, her meeting with the Queen and other important figures as well as anecdotally sharing experiences of resilience, hope, love, happiness and grief. An excellent memoir, would highly recommend!
