🏆What I liked:
- I feel like everyone loves Danny Trejo and this definitely capitalized off of that. This could have been your standard celebrity ghost-written book, but Danny and Donal went so much deeper; read with an open mind.
- Danny explored his life with such vulnerability. He let us in on his family secrets, his secret shames, his lows, his highs. He confronted his own demons and corrected his past actions. He treats everyone in the book with such care and respect.
- (I especially enjoyed) Danny confronted the machismo culture he grew up in and how that impacted his life and relationship with women, but he also accepted accountability for actions that HE made.
- While this book is God heavy, it never borders on preaching. To Danny, this is just where he finds his faith and strength.
🚩What I didn't like:
- (This isn't a serious point, just my thought) While I usually don't say this, I wish he would've explained his connection to God more. His questions and fears around God/religion were interesting and I just wish there would have been a better link to fearing God to finding strength in God.
