The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane by Laird Koenig

3.0

This is a book whose main character is shrouded in mystery from page one to the end at 254. It chronicles the life of a young girl over a short period of time, and when outside forces begin threatening this young girl's plans for herself, she takes matters into her own hands... Set in the 70's it was easy to picture bell-bottom pants, polyester and corduroy, classic cars and a time before cellphones and social media; clearly a story like this would never in a million years seem capable by today's standards. The book ends leaving you wonder about the girl, her story, what else she's hiding and what eventually became of the Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane?

It's a quick and easy read, a straightforward story, with quickly developed characters. Although the book itself has very few plot twists to write home about, I definitely enjoyed how I came to cheer for the main character despite myself.
