OMG. CHRISTIAN ALLISTERRRRR!!!!
this was such a good dark mafia romance!! these made men got me in a chokehold. i’ll be honest it’s been almost a year since I read the first book so I can’t really compare cause I don’t remember it 100% but I remember loving the first book and it being a five star for me. This book had me giddy the whole time I fell in love with the banter and tension between the two this is also my first Russian mafia romance, and it’s definitely in high ranking with Italian mafia as well lol.
Gianna is such a misunderstood character from the first book. I kind of saw her as that messy, trashy, loud girl that got everybody’s attention in the room and while some of those things are true, I definitely learned more from her as a character in this book, although I kind of found it hard to resonate with her as a character. me and her were very similar in age in the beginning stages of the book and I just couldn’t find to resonate with the addiction problem she had. Although I did love how bold she was, and she was such a strong character, although I felt like she became softer with Christian. majority of the book is in her point of view, and she definitely has a rough upbringing which makes her struggles in her addiction understandable. Although i admire the way she stood up for herself to her father and to Christian when he opened up with her.
Christian Allister I was blushing every time this man spoke LMAO. I thought Nico Russo was really the ultimate book boyfriend but Christian is just on another level. I lover The way he’s so protective over. when he killed for her!!! he had me out of my seattt!!!! He was also so misunderstood and held out on sharing his past which in the end I learned was so understandable giving everything that he endured as a child and he definitely held out so much with Gianna and I wish that he opened up to her a little earlier just because I felt like their love story could’ve started a lot faster. I was upset with him when he was in his head about things, and he would just have sex with her instead of explaining what was going on in his head. and from Gianna‘s point of view, we can see she kind of felt used in a way, but somehow she succumbed to him every single time which kind of pissed me off a little bit because girl stand up lol. but overall, he loved Gianna from afar for yearssss and when he finally had her he didn’t know what to with her lmaoo. he is the definition of nonchalant final boss LMAO.
highlights:
- he killed when someone spoke bad of her
- he watched her get married 2x and waited for her to be his
-he wore her hair tire around his hand for 3 years
- he knew of her bad experiences with marriage so he waited till she was ready
- he said he wouldn’t live on this earth if she wasn’t in it!!
*although i wish she knew all of this, i would’ve liked to see more chapters in his POV and him confessing this Gianna in the kitchen scene when he told her he loved her the first time*
overall, the book had me so giddy and the i can see how the characters are definitely relatable to some people on the level of not opening up, unspoken trauma, and the habit of self sabotage when you think someone is too good for you. i loved this book and cant wait to finish the series!!
