The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson
3.0

2.5 out of 5 stars.
There were quite a few aspects that I loved about this book, like our male protagonist being a fantasy writer, a dysfunctional duo of father and daughter who are trying to make it work, a really fun girl gang. But that was about it. On the other hand, I didn't really like the protagonist, and nearing the close, she actually got more annoying and on my nerves. The epic realization at the end wasn't that rocket-science that would have me rooting for her either.
Also, her internal monologues would sometimes make me roll eyes like a teenager or feel a little bit cringed. Just a little.
But it was enough to take plenty of stars out of the reading experience. But I'll still recommend it, read this book for Clark (our fantasy author) and the Dad (don't remember his name but he is gonna be a memorable character) and an amazing group of friends. But yeah, don't expect a lot, it's not the next To All the Boys I've Loved before.
