Early Riser by Jasper Fforde

this just wasn’t my type of book.

for reference, i really enjoyed “red, white, and royal blue” by casey mcquiston, “the goldfinch” by donna tart, and “call me by your name” by andre aciman.

this style of writing was challenging me as a reader and improved my comprehension. however the plot didn’t take off until the end of the book and i spent most of it wondering what many of the words meant, probably because it is set in europe and used many euphemisms that just flew right over my head.

the author also attempted to do these really cinematic reveals that just didn’t land and made it even more confusing to read.
