I had a fun time with this book! I read it in 3 days. The plot is at like breakneck pace and I don't think the characters sleep for like 2 days. I love the Western/end-of-Victorian-era/industrial-era vibes this book had. I loved the evolution of the magic system with the two main ones being used together. I am very driven to continue the series as I want to know about the villains' plans beyond what was revealed here.

My big two complaints:
Romantic relationship:
I hate this attempted setup between Marasi and Wax for a romantic relationship. Just no. She is half his age. Also, she has looked up to him as her childhood hero for so long. It just does not sit right with me for them to get together.

Antagonists:
I actually agreed with Miles' philosophy. His philosophy is basically to eat the rich/tear down the rich. Which I agree with! He has spent his life as an outlaw and basically accomplishing nothing as crimes continue to happen. He sees inequalities as people being taken to the Roughs for work and then abandoned by the people in the city. Like, he's not wrong in his criticisms of the law just being a threat of violence that doesn't actually help people. I do wish we learned od what Miles' plans were once he got his operation funded. Was his goal just to uproot the city without having another system set up to take its place? So, I don't love that we are following Wax who is basically working to keep the system in place. But, I don't agree with what the Set are doing at all and I want them taken down

Even with my two big criticisms, I still had a fun time with this book and I'm excited for the next ones!
