I found this out of sequence with the other contemporary RH books in the series, but was told they read as standalones fine — the problem is, they also said this was her least best and I don’t know that I really want to try any of the others because this fell really flat for me.
Maybe I’m just used to paranormal RHs or bad boy/girl types that fully embrace their sexualities and the RH, but I found the FMC’s insecurities and heavy use of slut/whore/disgraceful (both her and her sister) a huge issue. I know some people like to reclaim it but it really didn’t read as reclamation, it read as shame and projection, I almost DNFd. There was also a LOT of “I’m not usually so pussy-whipped” and a total sucker, fool, etc. from the men in regards to the FMC, like to the point that they sounded like recycled lines.
*specific spoilers beyond this point*

Two stars because the steamy scenes were well written and they let all the pretenses and insecurities fell away, and because, despite the line recycling the men were all delectable in their own ways. Even if I would’ve liked a little more getting to know them individually before all the s3x and then crying about the predicament and then more s3x; the “fell in love with them all” was super sudden but not in an instant-love kinda way, in a “we’re missing so much context” kinda way.
I did like the HEA of them all working together as a happy family. Wish it had been longer though, the group dynamics would’ve been nice to explore. And I liked to hate Eva lol.
